1933 was a year ham radio operators paid attention to building projects. The "NRA" symbol on the front cover of this issue doesn't refer to the gun group - it is the "National Recovery Administration", a new Deal program. These were times of financial hardship, the very same depression years we hear referred to today. People built their own radio gear, and commercially manufactured equipment was a luxury!
